 MARRIAGE LICENSE INFORMATION
In California, there are two types of
Marriage Licenses: Conventional and Confidential. The Conventional License can be obtained at any Marriage License Department - usually located in the City Hall.
In Marin County, go to the Civic Center in San Rafael located in the
Hall of Justice Wing, room 247: (415) 499.3002. You must appear
together, each with a picture identification. The license is good
for 90 days.
With a Conventional License you can be married in any location in the
state. However, if you choose to obtain a Confidential Marriage License, you must obtain it in the County in which you will be married.
